Hello Mr Jimmy,

I work in the Superior Court of Justice, in Brasilia / Brazil. We are planning a great event in the technology area, to make public what we are making regarding digital repositories and other information technologies. It would be an honor to count on your presence in this event. You could tell us about your experience about Wikipedia and other wiki-related projects. The event will probably be on November 19-20-21, 2007. I would like to know if you agree coming to Brasilia for a presentation.Would it be possible? I'll be waiting for your answer. Thanks. Teresa Basevi - basevi@stj.gov.br(I've mailed you at jwales at wikia.com)

[edit] Welcome

Hi Jimmy,

Its a great privilege and pleasure for me to help you in organising a wikians and wikipedians meeting here in Bangalore. I will tell you cool things to do in Bangalore and would defeinitely plan a movie session with Bangalore Film society.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Cheers

Praveen (pravs - pravi dot a at gmail.com) PS: I have mailed you at jwales at wikia dot com. Let me know the detailed schedule so that we can plan accordingly.

Hi. Welcome! Have good and safe trips! Will you be taking pictures of all these places? --CocoaZen 00:31, 11 August 2006 (UTC) Hi Jim-- Hope this is in keeping with your worldwide trip since it is a worldwide topic I would like to bring to your attention directly since I have never tried to write for or edit for Wikepedia. Perhaps you can forward this after you evaluate my comments to the right editor for consideration and possible inclusion on your great article on Squaring the Circle.

Fundamentally the one error your article repeats is that the impossibility of doing this was proved Algebraically in 1882 (by von Lindeman). However in the section on Impossibility the confusion is clearly stated, the solution "demands construction of a number sq. root of Pi, and the impossibility of this undertaking follows from the fact that Pi is a transcendal number--that is,it is non-algebraic and therefore is a non-constructible number."

The section concludes with the admonition,"If one solves the problem of the quadrature of this circle, this means one has also found an algebraic value of Pi, which is impossible."

I do not contest the simplistic logic of the above, since it is found in every Geometry book world wide--even in the Hellenic translation of this Hellenic matter! However, it might be wise for your most experienced editor(s) in geometry and the Philosopby of Logic to review von Lindemann's abuse of both logic and geometry to make the announcement that the Euclidean problem was solved. I don't think Euclid would have accepted the Lindemann proff--not the keepers of the Oracle of Delphi.

Good trip and I hope you can pass this insight to your editors. Thanks. GCCrystal@aol.com

[edit] I felt great!

It was really a great experience to listen to and inter-act with you in Bangalore: [1][2]. I look forward to more such meetups. Regards. --Bhadani 14:33, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, it was awesome. Where do you live normally? I heard you drove a long way!----Jimbo Wales 01:18, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind message. I live in Chennai, 350 KM from Bangalore. I could have taken a flight (but proper timings were not readily available), so I settled for a cab as the time at my disposal was very short, 30th September in India is the designated date for half-yearly closing of books of accounts for all banks. I work in a bank, and my presence on 30th September was required. At the same time, the "charm" of seeing you in person, and listening to you was so compelling that I somehow managed to take a day off on 29th September: drove about 7 hours for the great meet and returned the same evening soon after the meeting, reaching Chennai in the early morning of 30th September: but, it was a small inconvenience compared to a life-time of experience for me. I do utilize this opportunity to thank you and all others. I also assure you, Sir that we all shall always strive to make your dreams a reality. Frankly, most of your dreams have taken shape. Regards. --Bhadani 03:28, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bomis

What has happened to Bomis? The email service has been down for months. I have written every possible person I can find links to on the site. I have also used the "Make this page better" suggestion boxes.

There are several other things no longer working as well. :-(

[edit] Kissimmee, Florida : 6-8 November, 2006

Would you be available to schedule a meetup coinciding with this event? Trödel 20:29, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Totally. I am especially interested in doing a campaigns Wikia meetup, but a general Wikia meetup is more or less the same thing. :) Do you live in Orlando, what would be a good place to meetup? ----Jimbo Wales 16:09, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Meetup in New York City: 9 December 2006

Setting up a meetup in NYC on Saturday, 9 December 2006. If you're around or could be around, I and we would be much obliged if you'd stop in.

[edit] Italy

Hi Jimmy, well, yes, it would be great - referring to that I will send you an e-mail with a question :-) that could be interesting and some information material. I cannot publish all that material here, it would become too much. I hope I can make it to write today or tomorrow - this afternoon there is a longer meeting with the OmegaT people. Ciao :-) --SabineCretella 09:58, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Hey

  • This is bigger help for the wiki than I would expect from anyone! It might be of great help for the wiki. I say go for it if it isn't too much trouble for you. Effort for a small time wikia like Gunpedia shouldn't be more than its worth. --Jocke Pirat 00:40, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,

I've started some preliminary contacts in anticipation of organizing a meet-up in San Jose, CA, in late summer/early fall of this year. Nothing terribly fancy, but I suspect many people will attend. I'm just hoping to meet some cool people and have some fun:).

I'm trying to be low-key about it, but I do want to invite you if you're interested. I doubt this is enough advance notice, but seeing as how it's techie central we could probably conference you in from anywhere if you wanted to participate.

Feel free to email me if you have any interest, concerns, or questions. I'm NinaOdell everywhere:). Otherwise, I'll keep you posted from time to time on my progress. I'm very excited about this project, and I hope to take lots of pictures! NinaOdell 19:25, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the presentation

Jimmy,

I was so pleased to get to hear you speak yesterday at the University of Tampa. Your style is infectious and your presentation was a great lesson in how to take something complex like all your Wikipedia endeavors and describe it succintly. I own a commercial real estate brokerage and appriasal firm and we use Wikipedia almost daily.

Thanks for your effort, Brenda
