Overview

Ludhiana, the largest city (Population: 3.5 million) of the Indian state of Punjab, has been described as the Manchester of India. It is famous for manufacturing of hosiery and woolen garments, and is also an industrial city. The city lies along side the River Sutlej, which originates from the Himalayas. The hinterland of Ludhiana has well developed farmlands. The city of Ludhiana represents the culture of Punjab in ample measure, and during festivals like Baisakhi and Diwali, a visitor may enjoy the cultural delights of Punjab. The Punjabi cuisine is famed for its spicy tinge, as also nutritious value.
